A country music-themed bar called Wildwood's Honky Tonk Saloon will open on Friday, May 10. The bar in the Boardwalk Mall announced its grand opening weekend plans in a Facebook post on Monday, Apr. 29.
Nashville recording artist Brian McConnell will perform at the saloon at 7 p.m. on the opening night. Country musician Sam Stinson will play two sets at 1 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.
The saloon's followers said they're excited to finally visit the bar once it opens.
"Seeing a country bar in Wildwood just made my year," an Instagram commenter said.
"I think this place is going to be the hottest spot down the Jersey Shore... even beating out casino venues," another person said on Facebook. "I bet there will be nights that people won't even be able to get in."
A short video posted on Saturday, Apr. 27 showed several bars, space for dancing, large barrels as tables, an air hockey table, arcade games, and string lights hanging from the ceiling. Artwork of U.S. flags and the words "honky tonk" surrounded by guitars were also seen on the walls.
The saloon's opening will come during what's expected to be a busy Mother's Day weekend in Wildwood. Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to host a beachfront campaign rally on Saturday, May 11.
The bar's opening weekend will also be a test run a month before Wildwood's biggest event: the Barefoot Country Music Festival from Thursday, June 20 to Sunday, June 23. The headliners include Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Kane Brown, and Old Dominion.
The saloon has also booked acts for Memorial Day weekend, with Gillian Smith and her band playing on Saturday, May 25, and the Kenny Curico Band performing on Sunday, May 26.
